Building For The Future

 

Building For The Future (BTF) is designed as an affordable, biblically sound and spiritually enriching fundraising program for ALL FLORIDA BAPTIST CHURCHES. Consultants are trained by the Stewardship/ Cooperative Program Department, Florida Baptist Convention, and are located throughout the state. This program is implemented over a 13 week time period. Generally, over half of the adult membership will be involved in the organization, implementation and follow-up. For further information, contact Dr. Clarence E. New Challenge

Grants

 

Oldham Little Church Foundation. Helps churches meet a pressing need of a temporary nature which when met would enable the church to become a stronger ministry. For construction projects, they may help with small unanticipated shortfalls. Cannot help on anything that has already been ordered or contracted for. No loans or gifts to purchase property. No grants towards a parsonage, pastor’s study, office furnishings or equipment of any kind. They prefer that the small grants they can make will be enough to finish a project for the congregation’s use and community ministry. Pembrook Foundation.  Limited amount of funds are available for new work assistance,  start-up funds and rental assistance funds. Typical grant is $5,000 or less. For further information, contact Dr. Jim Pennington at

Public and Private Foundations.  For selected outreach ministries, it may be possible to qualify for grants from foundations listed in the book of foundations. Check your local library for the “Annual Register of Grant Support: A Directory of Funding Sources.” This book is also available at Amazon.com for about $240. Researching the foundations listed in this book may uncover some selected areas for which your church’s community oriented ministries may qualify.

 

Loans, Church Organizations

 

New Work Assistance Department, Florida Baptist Convention. For further information, contact

-  Church Site Interest Free Loans are provided to assist in the purchase of a site for a new church or mission.  (The purchase must be for the first piece of property for the new work.)  The loan provides assistance with up to 100% of the purchase price of the property, with a maximum loan amount of $75,000.  It must be repaid on a graduated payment schedule, over a ten year period. To qualify, the applicant must be a Florida Baptist Convention church (not under watchcare) either by Association membership or At Large membership, or a Florida Baptist Convention member mission, sponsored by a Florida Baptist Convention member church or association (in which case the loan is awarded to the sponsor on behalf of the mission). Applicants must give at least 8% of undesignated receipts to Cooperative Program and 2% of undesignated receipts to associational missions. Assistance will be provided on a percentage basis equal to the percentage the applicant’s gifts represent of the required 8% to Cooperative Program and 2% to the association. A church may  not borrow an amount that would cause its debt service to exceed 45% of its annual receipts. In addition, the church and/or mission must commit to give annually to the Maguire State Mission Offering for a period of ten years.  

 

-  New Work Revolving Loans are provided to assist in the construction or purchase of the first unit building for a new church or mission.This loan provides funds of up to $200,000, at 8% interest, amortized over 15 years following the first year of interest only payments. The applicant must be a Florida Baptist Convention church (not under watchcare) either by Association membership or At Large membership, or a Florida Baptist Convention member mission, sponsored by a Florida Baptist Convention member church or association (in which case the loan is awarded to the sponsor on behalf of the mission). Guidelines for the Church Site Interest Free Loan also stipulate that applicants must give at least 8% of undesignated receipts to Cooperative Program and 2% of undesignated receipts to associational missions. Assistance will be provided on a percentage basis equal to the percentage the applicant’s gifts represent of the required 8% to Cooperative Program and 2% to the association.A church may not borrow an amount that would cause its debt service payments to exceed 45% of its annual budget.

 

-  Church loans are provided to assist older, established churches with renovation, repairs, and other needs. This loan provides funds of up to $125,000, at 8% interest, amortized over 10 years. The applicant must be a Florida Baptist Convention church (not under watchcare) either by Association membership or At Large membership, or a Florida Baptist Convention member mission, sponsored by a Florida Baptist Convention member church or association (in which case the loan is awarded to the sponsor on behalf of the mission). Guidelines for the Church Site Interest Free Loan also stipulate that applicants must give at least 8% of undesignated receipts to Cooperative Program and 2% of undesignated receipts to associational missions.  Assistance will be provided on a percentage basis equal to the percentage the applicant’s gifts represent of the required 8% to Cooperative Program and 2% to the association. A church may not borrow an amount that would cause its debt service payments to exceed 40% of its annual budget.
